The paintings and collages I create both reflect the building and managing of synthetically constructed spaces. They explore the relationships between the places we inhabit and the search for belonging and understanding inside these spaces. I see these works as synthetically created arenas that will, I hope, inform my understanding and experience of the places I encounter. I believe that these works will become more than just physical representations as they explore the relationships between "Space" and "Place" and the search for the understanding of location. It is important that these works, both as collages and as paintings, reflect the physical search and process of their creation.
